It’s nothing new. You’ve theorized about it, felt it, possibly even complained about it. Nowadays, when something gets a lot of attention people try to market it. Does it work? Is it worthy of the attention? While people may over analyze or even discount the effect of flex in their surfboard the fact remains the same. It exists. You can go on for hours about how cyclical rates and various composite matrices can alter and adjust flex patterns or just give a plain subjective opinion, “……… It feels stiff.” Whatever your take on flex may be, you just can’t ignore it.

How much do you really know about your shaper?

We may all take for granted what we have from time to time. What if you you had a horrific accident and everything you were familiar with was lost, had to be relearned, difficult? Would you give up? Or would you just find a way around it and move on?

Turns out not that many people know that Stretch broke his neck, is partially paralyzed, had to learn to reshape left handed. He’s still at it. True board builders shape, glass, sand and know every intricacy of how a board will work and why. Stretch shapes every board and he enjoys putting his hands on each one. He hasn’t been able to seriously surf since 1988. Building the best boards he can allows him to continue that feeling of stoke. He surfs through everyone who rides his boards.

Nathan Fletcher’s new model design will change the way you look at high performance surfing from wave selection, board size and outline, concaves and a whole lot more. If you think the Fletcher Four-fin opened doors for your surfing then wait until you see Mr. Buzz!

Made to be ridden small, this is a highly efficient performance board which will almost shock you. It’s like no other board you’ve ever surfed.

stock size recommendations range from:

5′0″ x 18.75″ x 2.25″ (nathan’s size)

5′2″ x 19″ x 2.35″

5′4″ x 19.5″ x 2.5″

…. any size you want custom shaped by Stretch and built in our Santa Cruz factory.

If you think this looks like some super small wave groveley fish looking thing then know that it:

+ has more rocker than the Sword model

+ uses super deep (~1/4″) single to double concaves

+ can be ordered about +1/4″ wider and 10″-12″ shorter than your daily driver shortboard

Product specs are still being put in place for your viewing but check out these couple of videos that give insight to the latest creation and stay tuned for more!

Well, 2011 came to a close and 2012 has kicked off with unreal waves and weather (in Santa Cruz at least). Nathan Fletcher’s insane coverage (8 cover shots, editorials, video parts, interviews and who knows what else) brought me thinking back to 2009 when he had a broken leg, ambitious video skills and tons of friends and footage to help him heal up and pass the time. So if you haven’t already, head over to Analog Clothing and check the full video! Congratulations Nathan on your 2009 and 2011 Heavy Water Award. Here’s to more to come!
