  • Sword Squash Tail

The newest addition to the Stretch board line is an elaborately simple assassin. It's the kind of board that feeds off progression and supports you in positions above and beyond all those surf fantasies you’ve conjured up in your head. In the right hands, it's an unmistakable instrument playing a crisp note. If the Fletcher Four-fin is a trumpet and the S-10 is a flute, then the Sword is surely your violin.

The Sword is recommended for intermediate to advanced surfers. It is designed for fast beach breaks and reefs and also serves as an excellent step-up board for racey walls and quick, ledgy slabs. Order this board 1/16" thinner than your normal EPS/Epoxy Stretch tri-fin.

Recommended sizes

5'8" - 7'6"

Tail Options

The Sword's tail is nearly identical to its opposing nose template offering a uniquely predictable and narrow platform. Any tail configuration is solid. However, with the amount of curve along the rail line a squash or swallow is preferred.

  • Round Pin Tail Shortens the rail line. Works well for front footed rippers who like a bit more length in their board.
  • Swallow Tail Keeps the pivot points in the tail and allows for maximum rail length.
  • Thumb Tail Softens the endpoints of the rail line while taking a minimal amount of surface area from an already narrow tail.

Types of Tails

Round Pin Tail

  • Moves the "sweet spot" slightly farther ahead on the board, in front of the fin cluster.
  • Offers a different release & hold for deep carves and more drawn out turns
  • Shortens the "effective rail line" and with respect to board length, resulting in less area on the tail to penetrate the wave face so that you can actually sink a section of tail deeper than other templates.

Thumb Tail

  • Softens the pivot points on the end of the rail line while keeping a smooth flow like a round pin without taking away the tail width

Squash Tail

  • Top to bottom surfing
  • Free the tail on all your turns
  • HIt the lip and more while you rip it down the line.

Bat Tail

  • Offers a more pivotal, snappy feel
  • Loosens up the board by having the rail line end shorter
  • Relative to other tails, the bat is wider at the block, allowing the rear foot to move further back in to the fin cluster.
  • Combines the swallow tail feel but with more stability

Diamond Tail

  • Offers an aesthetic alternative to the bat tail while keeping the same performance features

Swallow Tail

  • Quick, loose and responsive for snappy turns off the top
  • For similar results with a more distinctive look, try our Moon tail

Baby Swallow Tail

  • Quick, loose and responsive for snappy turns off the top
  • Baby swallow tail is a reduced version primarily used on big wave boards

Deep Swallow Tail

  • Quick, loose and responsive for snappy turns off the top
  • For similar results with a more distinctive look, try our Moon tail

Moon Tail

  • With performance features similar to the swallow tail, the Moon adds a much more distinctive look.

Winged Tail

  • Pulls in the outline at the trailing edge of the fins as a way to break the water along the rail line.
  • Adds a snappier and more pivotal turning characteristic as opposed to a full rail turn.

Fin Options

The Sword comes standard as a tri. We recommend this board with smaller yet fuller, high aspect ratio fins from 4 ¼"-4 1/2".

  • Choose from Future or FCS

Outline

The Sword has the wide point exact center. The template is an even curve, akin to an arc drawn with a compass. The Sword's extremely consistent outline blends nose characteristics similar to the S2 towards a much narrower tail. The result is an extremely predictable board allowing you to hack top to bottom with intense speed.

Rocker

A key element to the Sword is the extremely consistent and continuous rocker from nose to tail. Unique to every other model in the Stretch board line, the Sword's amplified rocker provides stability in extremely critical positions. A predictable feel and a broad "sweet spot", increases turning ability and quick snaps under the lip.

Rails

The Sword features a proportionately fuller rail in the mid section and supports a thinner tail. Combining Stretch's round, spherical rails in a fuller mid section and nose allows for more forgiveness and "follow through". A stable landing pad under your front foot, the repositioned volume combined with the thinner tail means you'll be digging your rails less often and coming away clean.

Bottom

Slight vee in the nose feeds into the deepest single concave Stretch has ever offered. A relatively straighter center-line rocker combined with the increased rail rocker maximizes planing efficiency and maneuverability while providing the quickest turning board possible. The Sword's bottom is accentuated with a light vee out the tail.
