S2

Long considered to be one of the most versatile tri fins in the Stretch board line, the S2 model has provided the basis for the desired "all-around" board. Designed to balance progressive surfing with confidence and control, the S2 tugs the performance small wave characteristics of the Ratskate towards the dynamics of the S-10. It is user friendly, predictable and never lets you down. Recommended for neutral footed to back footed, vagabond surfers.

Tail Options

The S2 features a subtle bump wing 15" from the tail. It features a semi-full tail with a narrower tail block than the S-10.

Squash Tail Standard on the S2, has a slightly narrower tail block than the S-10
Round Pin Tail Put into the S2 template, the effective rail line used in a turn becomes shortened. With respect to board length, there will be less area on the tail to penetrate the wave face and you can actually sink a section of tail deeper than other templates.

Types of Tails

Round Pin Tail

Moves the "sweet spot" slightly farther ahead on the board, in front of the fin cluster.
Offers a different release & hold for deep carves and more drawn out turns
Shortens the "effective rail line" and with respect to board length, resulting in less area on the tail to penetrate the wave face so that you can actually sink a section of tail deeper than other templates.

Thumb Tail

Softens the pivot points on the end of the rail line while keeping a smooth flow like a round pin without taking away the tail width

Squash Tail

Top to bottom surfing
Free the tail on all your turns
HIt the lip and more while you rip it down the line.

Bat Tail

Offers a more pivotal, snappy feel
Loosens up the board by having the rail line end shorter
Relative to other tails, the bat is wider at the block, allowing the rear foot to move further back in to the fin cluster.
Combines the swallow tail feel but with more stability

Diamond Tail

Offers an aesthetic alternative to the bat tail while keeping the same performance features

Moon Tail

With performance features similar to the swallow tail, the Moon adds a much more distinctive look.

Winged Tail

Pulls in the outline at the trailing edge of the fins as a way to break the water along the rail line.
Adds a snappier and more pivotal turning characteristic as opposed to a full rail turn.

Fin Options

The S2 comes standard as a tri. We recommend this board with smaller yet fuller, high aspect ratio fins from 4 1/4"-4 1/2".

Outline

The S2 has the wide point exact center. This is a balanced template with a semi-full nose and semi-full tail. The subtle bump wing at 15" from the tail brings in the outline to a slightly narrower tail block than the S-10.

Rocker

Continuous rocker broadens the "sweet spot", increases turning ability and adds a "predictable" feel under your feet.

Rails

Stretch’s standard 50/50 rail with a thickness between the Ratskate and S-10. Like all of the performance models, it is shaped with the same amount of curve throughout, from top to bottom. Independent from the bottom of the board, it is a section of a sphere that is designed to hold the wave face no matter where you lean the board. The hard edge behind the front fins give a crisp release.

Bottom

Slight vee in the nose to a 5/16" deep single concave between your feet. Slight vee out the tail.
