Similar to what you may associate with the well-known small breed of dog, the PUG model is a more compact version of your normal high performance shortboard. It’s well mannered with a deep chest and well-developed muscle. With the “business” end of the board being the tail, that little pointy nose that sticks out of the water isn’t really doing anything for you anyways. Going shorter while still retaining an effective rail line and characteristics of your all around shortboard gives you the ability to paddle and surf a wider variety of wave types all the while retaining confidence in performance.
You'll be psyched on this board if:
Ride this board 4”-6” shorter than your daily driver shortboard.
Offered as a tri, quad or 5-fin convertible
The PUG retains the same outline of the Fletcher Four-fin or Ratskate throughout the mid-section and tail. Removing about 6” in length from the nose will provide a fuller outline under your chest and up front without looking “fishy” or hindering surface area you’d normally see in a longer board.
Similar to all of Stretch’s high performance boards, the PUG features continuous rocker for predictability and a broadened “sweet spot”. The loss of 6” in the nose means that the entry rocker is slightly lower to offer a similar rocker value from your normal shortboard.
Symmetrical, round 50/50 rails transition to a hard edge behind the fins.
Vee in the nose transitions to a single concave between the feet with a slight vee out the tail.
Available in Stretch’s exclusive EPS TECH, epoxy or polyester.
