The Magnet

The Magnet is a performance, all around board for waves lacking power. Based off the Fletcher Four-Fin, it was originally designed to fill the gap for team riders when summertime lulls and weaker swells were all there was to surf. The Magnet has since surged onto the scene as the board that will fulfill the all around small wave, performance shortboard quiver

Recommended sizes

5'4"-6'8"

Can be ridden 1-2" shorter than your favorite short board and up to 1/4"-3/8" wider.

Tail Options

The Magnet uses a full tail that works best as a moon or bat. Similar to the Fletcher Four-fin, it has straighter rails and a fuller tail than the other tri fins.

Round Pin Tail On the Magnet, this is almost thumb-like and will still provide a loose, "skatey" feeling while still being able to lay into wide, drawn out turns.
Add Wings The addition of one or two full wings on the Magnet will narrow a wide tail block while retaining the full outline above the fin cluster.

Types of Tails

Round Pin Tail

Moves the "sweet spot" slightly farther ahead on the board, in front of the fin cluster.
Offers a different release & hold for deep carves and more drawn out turns
Shortens the "effective rail line" and with respect to board length, resulting in less area on the tail to penetrate the wave face so that you can actually sink a section of tail deeper than other templates.

Thumb Tail

Softens the pivot points on the end of the rail line while keeping a smooth flow like a round pin without taking away the tail width

Squash Tail

Top to bottom surfing
Free the tail on all your turns
HIt the lip and more while you rip it down the line.

Bat Tail

Offers a more pivotal, snappy feel
Loosens up the board by having the rail line end shorter
Relative to other tails, the bat is wider at the block, allowing the rear foot to move further back in to the fin cluster.
Combines the swallow tail feel but with more stability

Diamond Tail

Offers an aesthetic alternative to the bat tail while keeping the same performance features

Moon Tail

With performance features similar to the swallow tail, the Moon adds a much more distinctive look.

Winged Tail

Pulls in the outline at the trailing edge of the fins as a way to break the water along the rail line.
Adds a snappier and more pivotal turning characteristic as opposed to a full rail turn.

Fin Options

The Magnet comes standard as a quad. We recommend this board with smaller yet fuller, high aspect ratio fins from 4 1/4"-4 1/2" with 4" trailers.

Outline

The Magnet is similar to the Fletcher Four-Fin and Rat Skate nose template with the wide point exact center. The Magnet tail is noticeably wider for added lift and low speed planing efficiency.

Rocker

Stretch's magic continuous rocker. Similar in concept to the S-10 rocker, it features a milder entry for easier paddling along with slightly more tail rocker than the WHAT? for maneuverability and control under your back foot.

Rails

Medium-full 50/50 rails distribute thickness across a slightly flatter deck without taking away sensitivity and responsiveness when put on rail. A proportionate thickness flow and foil keeps all around performance in the board without feeling bulky.

Bottom

Slight vee in the nose to a 5/16" deep single concave between your feet. Slight vee out the tail.
